Celtic Christians used a wild goose as an image of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God is not under our control. And this is actually good news. In the gospel of John, Jesus tells a man named Nicodemus, “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” How is the Holy Spirit at work in us and in our world? And how do we cooperate with the wild movement of the Holy Spirit here and now?

Throughout the series, we will explore simple practices we can engage in over the summer to help us participate in the work of the Holy Spirit. Click the Image below to download a card with the spiritual practices we will be focusing on through the summer.

  • "WILD IN THE CITY"

    May 23, 2021

    Guest Speaker Eunice "Junior" McGarrahan

    Acts 2:1-4

In the New English Bible translation verse 1 says, “While the day of Pentecost was running its course…” In other words, while other things were going on and people had other plans, the Holy Spirit arrives and goes wild in the city. On this day of Pentecost, we celebrate the wild movement of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church.

  • "WILD GOOSE"

    Pastor Chuck Fowler

    John 3:1-9

The Holy Spirit is on the move ushering people into new life in the Kingdom of God, bringing about a whole new world in Christ. What do we learn of the Holy Spirit in our passage today? How is our life together as a church marked by the mighty rushing wind of God’s Spirit?

Today Pastor Chuck Fowler preceded his sermon with a video from The Bible Project about God's three-in-one nature. You can watch the video here. Chuck looks at the wildness of the Holy Spirit that Jesus describes in his conversation to Nicodemus in John chapter 3.

  • "GIVER OF LIFE"

    June 6, 2021

    Pastor Katie Fowler

    John 6:63-69

The flesh counts for nothing. Our human ability and effort cannot bring life. These words challenge us as we are used to producing, performing, managing our way into what we want (or at least we deceive ourselves into thinking we can). The Holy Spirit is the Giver of Life. Only the Holy Spirit can bring life to what is dead and restore us to life with God.

    Jon Weeks

    Romans 8:1-17

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."

The Spirit Gives Life-here Guest Speaker Jon Weeks takes us through Paul's teaching on life through the spirit from Romans 8:1-17.
